As a Community Economic Development association, we aspire to improve the quality of life for islanders, by making Cortes stronger and more able to thrive through external economic or social challenges. We do this by initiating and supporting local Community Economic Development projects.

We define Community Economic Development as the actions taken by people locally to create economic opportunities that improve social conditions. To be effective, solutions must be rooted in local knowledge and led by community members.

Cortes Island is part of the traditional territory of the Klahoose, Tia'amin, and Homalco Nations. We acknowledge this prior ownership and stewardship and strive to support economic reconciliation and justice for First Nations peoples.
